11 // Introducing: Jessica Erin Film

Today, in the interest of motivation and accountability, I want to introduce you to a new endeavor I’m working on: Jessica Erin Film reviews.

My family didn’t watch a lot of TV growing up, but we did watch movies. Of course, we watched such standard Disney fare as Cinderella and One Hundred and One Dalmations, but I cut my teeth on epics like Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments, Julie Andrews’ The Sound of Music, and The Fiddler on the Roof (all of which I’d watched multiple times before the age of ten).

And my mom loved musicals, so there were those, too—White Christmas, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The King & I, My Fair Lady. I first experienced the magic of the big screen at the age of six and 20+ years later, The Prince of Egypt remains a favorite.

Whether this will remain a part-time pursuit or turn into something else eventually remains to be seen. But for now, in the interest of both cataloging what I watch and writing more frequently, I’ve decided to start a blog dedicated to the films I watch.

It’s pretty skin-and-bones over there right now, but I’ll be adding a backlog of reviews soon, in addition to writing up what I watch moving forward.

In the meantime, check me out on Letterboxd, a social platform for film lovers. And follow me on Twitter, where I tweet about film and whatever else strikes my fancy.
